PROTAŞ A.Ş. was established in 1989 as a manufacturing company for the production of elevator motors and explosion proof electrical equipment.

Since that time, PROTAŞ has maintained a high level of customer satisfaction with its products, supported by experienced engineering know-how and quality workmanship. The high quality of manufacturing methods followed by PROTAŞ has been certificated by TÜV in accordance with ISO9000 standards, and the technical compliance of the material manufactured by PROTAŞ has been certificated according to the TSE norms.

Elevator motors manufactured by PROTAŞ with SILVESTRI–ITALY know-how is an outstanding example of excellent performance with their high quality electrical and mechanical characteristics.

The squirrel cage induction rotor formed by copper short circuiting bars welded with copper and silver-flo material at high temperature soldering using the SILVESTRI “know-how” gives the highly required performance characteristics of low starting current and high starting moment of lift motors.

Stator windings wound with the highest quality wires are vacuum varnished and oven-dried for lasting stability and high performance up to 180 starts/hour. Sufficient cooling is provided with our specially design fan. This ventilation is supported with forced cooling for higher starts per hour or unexpected contingencies.

Stator windings are double protected against overheating by thermistor relay elements and bimetallic thermostats placed on the stator laminations.

For silent and trouble free operation brass sliding bearings are used with careful quality controlled grinding on the shaft and sliding surfaces.

Vibration free operation is assured by precision balancing of the rotor in our balancing center.

Each one of our motors is comprised of material and parts carefully manufactured and screened for quality compliance at every step of production, and delivered with a quality control certificate after the final operational tests at our computerized test center.

Today more than 30.000 PROTAŞ motors are serving in elevators around the country and abroad at hospitals, shopping centers and residential buildings.

Explosion-proof electric equipment manufactured by PROTAŞ has been designed with the “25 year experience in production” know-how of our engineering group in accordance with the common understanding of explosion-proof lines of international designs and has been tested and certified by the Turkish Standards Institute Explosion-Proof Laboratories in İzmir.

Special high silicon aluminum alloys are used in our casted material for high corrosion resistance and oven painted for additional corrosion protection. Special borosilicate glasses manufactured by SCHOTT are used in our lighting fixtures for a high level of protection against mechanical impacts and temperature shocks in open environs.

Electrical parts used together with our material are carefully chosen for their high quality in order to ensure a long and durable operational service life. The quality assurance system of ISO 9000 standards is again carefully followed at all manufacturing stages of our ex-proof electrical equipments.
